Terms of Service

Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Applies to the L’Aube iOS app and laubeparis.com

Plain words, as everywhere else. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to these terms.

1. What L’Aube is

L’Aube is a daily companion app: rituals, suggested outings (“quests” and “trails”), French phrases, a private journal, an AI conversational companion (“Antoine”), and gentle administrative reminders, personalized to your profile. It is a lifestyle and orientation product.

2. What L’Aube is not

  • Not legal or immigration advice. Administrative reminders and explanations are orientation only. Official French government sources and qualified professionals are the sole authority on your obligations; always confirm dates, fees, and steps there.
  • Not medical advice. Content touching health (like pharmacy vocabulary) is cultural orientation, not diagnosis or treatment. In an emergency in France, call 15 or 112.
  • Not financial or tax advice, and not a guarantee about the world. Places close, prices change, trains reschedule. We curate carefully and tell you to confirm what matters; the decisions and their outcomes are yours.

3. AI-generated content

Much of your daily content is generated by AI, shaped by our editorial rules and automated checks. It can still occasionally be imperfect, out of date, or wrong. We design for graceful honesty (official links for current facts; curated places only), but you should apply ordinary judgment, especially for anything with a deadline, a cost, or your health involved.

4. Your account

You need to be 18 or older. Keep your sign-in email accessible; codes and links sent to it are how you access your account. You’re responsible for activity under your account, and you agree to give us accurate information (personalization is only as honest as its inputs).

5. Subscriptions, trials, billing

  • L’Aube is offered as an auto-renewing subscription — monthly ($9.99) or annual ($79.99), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Prices in USD; your local price is set and displayed by the App Store.
  • Billing is handled entirely by Apple. Your subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, per App Store rules. Manage or cancel in your device Settings → Subscriptions.
  • Trials convert to paid automatically if not cancelled before the trial ends.
  • Refunds are requested through Apple. We can’t issue App Store refunds directly, though we want to hear about anything that went wrong: hello@laubeparis.com.

6. Your content

Your journal entries and photos are yours. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, display, and process them to operate the service (including the private summarization described in our Privacy Policy). We claim no other rights to them. Don’t upload content that is illegal or that you don’t have the right to store.

7. Our content

The app, its design, its writing, its curated catalogs, and the character of Antoine are ours (or licensed to us) and protected by law. Your subscription grants personal, non-transferable use of the app; it doesn’t grant rights to copy, scrape, resell, or republish our content or systems.

8. Acceptable use

Don’t abuse the service: no attempting to break, probe, or overload our systems; no using the AI features to generate unlawful content; no reverse-engineering except where law allows; no automated scraping. We may suspend accounts that endanger the service or other users, and we’ll be proportionate and human about it.

9. Ending things

You can stop anytime: cancel the subscription with Apple, and/or delete your account in Settings (which erases your data per the Privacy Policy). We may terminate or suspend accounts for material breach of these terms. Sections that by nature survive (5–7, 10–12) survive.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under applicable law (including French consumer law where it applies to you).

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Governing law & changes

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in our place of establishment, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections where you live. If we change these terms materially, we’ll say so in the app and here, with a new effective date, before the changes apply.
